Can you design the life of your dreams?
"Your future is as bright as you want it to be" - Anthon St. Maarten
Hi hi.
I hope this meets you well?
Wheww, thank you so much for your kind words regarding the last newsletter & thank you for reaching out and asking for mental health support!
The last newsletter took a lot from me and I'm glad that it was for a good purpose, AlhamduliLah ☺️
If you still need any form of mental health support, please feel free to send an email or reply to this edition of the newsletter. I'm happy to share mental wellness resources and referrals to mental health professionals or services.
Can you design the life of your dreams?
I believe you can. I first came across this idea in 2018 (I think), when I signed up for the Mindvalley Lifebook quest. It was really eye-opening. Gosh! It took a really long time to work through the entire quest and by the end, I had a journal filled with what my dream life looked like.
It's been 4 years now and I still refer back to that journal from time to time to see if I'm on “track”. Some things have changed (of course) but alhamduliLah, so far so good.
Having this “lifebook” has also made goal setting easy for me every year. Why? I just have to reverse engineer what my dream life looks like to where I'm at currently.
I really believe that taking time to create your own lifebook (or lifestyle guide) is a powerful hack to live a life of purpose, excellence and happiness. Because with it, everything is intentional.
This is not to say there's no room for spontaneity, no no. There is still a lot of room for that. But even in the spontaneity, there's intentionality behind it.
Here are 5 questions to get you started on designing your dream life (some of these questions are cliche but intentionally so!);
• Do you know what’s most important to you in life? What is it?
• Which skills, tools, and topics come naturally to you, and what problems can they help you solve?
• What does it look like when you're at your healthiest, strongest, and best?
• When you look back on your life what do you want to be able to say about it?
• Looking at the areas of your health & fitness, character, emotional life, social life, intellectual life, spiritual life, financial life, career, parenting and love life, what do you envision for yourself as the peak to reach?
When answering these questions, I want you to dig deep. Write as much as you can.
This is your life. You have the power to design and live up to what you want (bi'idniLlah).
A coherent life is one lived in such a way that you can clearly connect the dots between three things: who you are, what you believe, what you are doing.
